What is an IT Toolkit?
The IT Toolkit is the IT Professional’s container of information on related or varied concepts, topics, resources, etc. The purpose of the toolkit is to serve as a knowledge base that can be easily and quickly accessed by the IT Professional. Every IT Toolkit will not obtain the same types of information, as each is tailored to the individual IT Professional that initially developed it and others with similar interests.
An IT Toolkit can be created in various forms such as: websites, PowerPoint presentations, files stored in a folder on a PC, etc. I chose to develop my IT Toolkit using a website because it can then be accessed from virtually anywhere with Internet access. Also, the website allows it to be easily updated and organized.
My IT Professional Toolkit
My IT Toolkit focuses on IT strategy, IT policy, and IT governance to meet the objectives of the IT 7833 course. Moreover, I have included information on my individualized career interests, which I plan to later use as a reference in reaching my career goals.
Why This Toolkit?
As the subtitle of this site implies, this toolkit is a requirement for the Spring 2014 IT 7833 course (at Southern Polytechnic State University)*. The purpose of this project is to allow students to apply knowledge obtained in the course, as well as throughout the MSIT program, to their IT interests and career goals. While this toolkit is a course requirement, I plan to continue to update it after the course is completed and begin to use it to aid in my IT professional development.
